Personal check and newsclipping, 1896.

Check, drawn on The People's Bank of Buffalo, 25 Jan. 1896, and sent to Thomas T. Ramsdell as payment for a dinner. The check was passed to, and signed by 56 men, including Buffalo Bill Cody, before it reached the bank in Feb. 1896. The newsclipping, from the Buffalo express, 27 Mar. 1896, tells the story, in an article entitled, "Paradoxical check: drawn for a dollar, it is indorsed for millions."
